Eriksson targets Premier League job

Following his spell as Ivory Coast manager for the 2010 World Cup, it has been revealed that Sven-Goran Eriksson believes he has “unfinished business” in the Premier League.

The former England boss is now the front runner for the vacant Fulham manager’s position following Martin Jol’s decision to remain at Ajax and it is clearly a role he would be interested in.

Eriksson’s agent has spoken about the situation and admitted that he has “known for some weeks Sven’s one of the managers under consideration”. However, there has been “no contact whatsoever” from Fulham at this stage.

This will probably change very soon if Eriksson is the next man on Fulham’s list. They were extremely keen on securing Jol and would have worked tirelessly on that, but now they can move on to other targets. Betsplayer.com will keep you up to date with their next move.

The Swede has been involved at club level in England twice before of course, for Notts County and Manchester City. Neither of these spells finished particularly well though, so he will want to prove a few people wrong about his ability to be successful.

The dismissal from Manchester City was particularly painful for Eriksson, with his agent claiming that he was “outrageously sacked from his position” after doing a “first-class job” at Eastlands.

All of this is in the past though and as always with Eriksson, he will be looking ahead to the next challenge in his managerial career. Whether that turns out to be Fulham, remains to be seen.
