As always seems to be the case, the relegation fight is a heck of a lot more interesting in the EPL than the battle at the top of the table, and we are preparing you for the week ahead in British soccer by making our soccer picks for some of the most important games of the weekend.
We’ll start at Loftus Road, where Queens Park Rangers desperately need three points against Stoke City to try to avoid the guaranteed drop into the Championship next season. The Rangers though, really aren’t going to have much to offer to this one. Stoke is three points clear of relegation itself, and it knows that three points should make it relatively safe for the rest of the year.
QPR had Wigan Athletic beaten two weeks ago at Loftus Road, but a late equalizer of a goal knocked the stuffing out of the team. The very next week, Everton slammed the Rangers 2-0 in a match that was never that close, and we expect another lackluster effort from the soon-to-be Championship side on Saturday.
The other team at the bottom of the table though, might put up a better fight. Reading is going to be a sizable underdog at Carrow Road against Norwich City, who still has some tidying up to do to make sure that it doesn’t end up taking the drop this year. The Canaries really should have gotten at least a point from their trip to the Emirates last weekend, but a crucially suspect call for a penalty, and an own goal later, and all that was left to show for that game was a brutal defeat. There’s a good chance that Norwich could fall flat in this one, and perhaps only a point will be the ultimate outcome. It might be enough to help the team stay alive, but three points would have been a whole heck of a lot nicer.
