While speaking to the club official website before the West Brom game, Ivanovic streesed the importance of learning from experience. His words; ”I think in previous years we had almost exactly the same situation as we now have. We need to learn from these experiences, and from the last game against Liverpool we know we need to be more concentrated as a team to win matches”. And he should know his background had prepared him for this.
On Wednesday February 22, 1984 while the Reagan administration was considering getting Congressional approval for emergency arms aid for El Salvador; Rade and Slavica were being blessed with a baby boy.
Branislav Ivanovic was born in Sremska Mitrovica, a city located in the Vojvodina province of Serbia left bank of the Sava river. Sremska Mitrovica was once a capital of the Roman Empire during the time ruling power was divided among four individuals and the city was referred to as the glorious mother of cities. On the day Branna was born, humidity was at 90 but Rade couldn’t care less, he has a boy.
Branislav played for FK Remont 2001 – 2002. Srem 2002 – 2003. OFK Beograd 2003 – 2006. Locomotiv Moscow 2006 – 2008 before joining Chelsea FC. At L. Moscow Ivanovic blossomed to a complete player. Coach by Muslin Slavoljub, he made 55 league appearances and scored 5 goals. He also became a regular for the Serbian national team.
After the initial struggle under coach Avram Grant [2007 – 2008 season] where he had to play for the reserve team. Ivanovic made his Premier League debut on Sunday October 5, 2008 against Aston Villa. He has since secured a regular starting place on the Chelsea FC team baring injuries.
During the 2010/ 2011 Premier League season, Ivanovic proved his versatility by playing at the center half when injuries ravaged Chelsea team. He became the captain of the Serbian national team in 2012. He does not shy away from responsibilities and his charge to his team mates proves this; ‘This is very important, to keep clean sheets. It’s the main thing for the defence to think about. We need to be motivated, compact, and everybody needs to be concentrated. Sometimes we need to be more aggressive, angrier as we defend’.
Come on bridge boys. Come on Blues.
